JFK is the nation’s busiest airport for international travel and is an indispensable part of global travel and the region’s economy. The airport handles over 62 million passengers a year, supports 280,000 jobs, and generates more than $51 billion in sales and $17.1 billion in wages. It is an essential component of the world’s air transportation system and a regional economic driver.

The New Terminal One
As part of the Port Authority’s $19 billion transformation of JFK International into a world-class airport, the New Terminal One (NTO) will be one of the global gateways to the New York metropolitan area, building a 23-gate state-of-the-art terminal that aspires to be among the best terminals in the world, with the first gates planned to open in 2026.
The 2.6 million square feet terminal will feature expansive, naturally lit, public spaces, cutting edge technology, and an array of amenities, designed to enhance the customer experience. Travelers will enjoy world-class dining and retail amenities, as well as space for lounges, an indoor green space and family-friendly amenities—all with inspiring public art and a uniquely New York sense of place.
Terminal 6
JFK Millennium Partners is building a world class, 1.2 million square foot Terminal 6 which will occupy the site of the former Terminal 6 and Terminal 7 when completed. This $4.2 billion redevelopment will transform the guest experience with expansive, naturally lit public spaces, cutting-edge technology, inspiring public art and an array of amenities designed to enhance the customer experience, making it a critical piece of the Port Authority’s $19 billion transformation of JFK into a world-class global gateway.
Terminal 4
With the JFK Terminal 4 redevelopment program, the Port Authority, Delta Air Lines and JFK International Air Terminal, LLC (JFKIAT) have developed a fresh and modern terminal to deliver an elevated airport experience to travelers. The project has increased the capacity of the airport by building ten new aircraft parking positions, adding an additional domestic baggage claim carousel, and transitioned all Delta operations into Terminal 4.
The latest phase of the terminal redevelopment includes an updated check-in hall, new gate finishes, added curb drop-off space, additional digital signage, restroom modernizations, continued technology enhancements, and the transformation of regional jet gate areas to accommodate mainline aircraft. To ensure the highest level of customer service and minimal disruptions during this renovation, the enhanced Terminal 4 has been completed in multiple phases.
American Airlines - Terminal 8
Building on the momentum of the recently completed Terminal 8 (T8) Expansion Project, the $125 million T8 Commercial Redevelopment will reimagine the customer experience and provide opportunities for local, minority and women-owned businesses and the community.
Across a two-year development period, T8 Innovation Partners - a joint venture led by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports - in partnership with American Airlines and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is developing and managing the reimagined customer experience, including major commercial upgrades throughout the terminal to create a NYC-inspired destination with 60+ exciting new shop and restaurant offerings.
Roadway, parking and infrastructure
The JFK redevelopment program includes an entirely new, simplified airport roadway network, supported by $3.9 billion in Port Authority funding for roadway and infrastructure improvements. The project will feature streamlined roadways, a best-in-class ground transportation center, and supporting infrastructure. A joint venture between Skanska, a leading global construction and development firm, and Halmar International LLC will lead the construction, with Parsons Corporation serving as the project’s lead designer.
